Troop 502 Scout Competition

Troop 502 Scouts and Parents,

Our annual golf tournament is being held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Sun City Carolina Lakes Golf Course.  Information on the golf tournament attached for your convenience.

This is our primary fundraiser for the year.  Proceeds from the golf tournament allow the troop to fund to fund some of the cool and fun trips for the year and reduce costs to the scouts.  Last year, our tournament earned about $1,500 to go into our general fund to pay for these trips (camping fees, vehicle gas, registration fees, etc.).  Without these funds, the scouts pay more for the trips or we can’t offer the trips.

As we have been getting closer to the golf tournament, we have had a relatively slow registration response, and are we are having to make decisions on whether we will have the tournament or not.  We need to have a minimum of 40 players to have the tournament.  We are about half-way there so far.  We need for the Troop 502 scouts and parents to step up and help find the rest of the players that we need.

This is your troop.  We are asking that each scout recruit at least one person to play in our golf tournament.  The person can play as an individual or have a team of up to 4 players.  This could be a parent, family member, church member, neighbor, or family friend.  There are many golfers out there.

We need to have a list of the players that you have recruited by Friday, August 16th, with contact information and a check payable to the troop.

We plan to have a competition for the scouts with the most paying players recruited.  The scout with the highest number of paying players recruited will take 1^st place.  Prizes will be awarded as follows:

1. 1^st Place – $100 REI Camping Store gift card (most player recruits)
2. 2^nd Place – $50 REI Camping Store gift card  (second-most player recruits)
3. 3^rd Place – $25 REI Camping Store gift card  (third-most player recruits)

To be eligible, a scout must recruit a minimum of 1 paying player.  In the event of a tie, the scout’s name will be randomly selected from a group of names for prize selection with the first scout name picked winning the prize.
