Camporee Information and Forms Needed

For those attending Camporee, following please find information:

FORMS: If you have not handed in your medical form your MUST bring it Friday with parts A & B completed, as well as front and back copy of insurance card.

ARRIVAL: Scouts should eat dinner before arriving at Camp Grimes. Please arrive between 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. but the earlier the better so camp can be set up and parents can get back on the road before dark.

UNIFORM: Wear your Class A for traveling. Make sure all your current patrol emblem and position patches are sewn on.

VEHICLE SAFETY: Camp speed limit is 10 mph. Vehicles must remain parked until Sunday after closing ceremonies.

COVID safety check-in. Please review the COVID mitigation plan and bring the SIGNED waiver and SIGNED questionnaire.  Each participant must have this as they arrive, as that is where we will record temperatures. If anyone is running a temperature of 100.4 or higher, they will not be allowed to enter camp and must submit to a second temperature check 10 minutes later.  If it is persistent, the entire car will leave camp. 

CAMPSITE & PARKING: Troop 502 campsite 12 (Saura) same as 2019  – LEFT past the mess hall, LEFT just past Shower #2 and straight ahead). https://www.mycampgrimes.org/cgprmap.phtml Drop-offs OK, but only one trailer and one vehicle are permitted at campsite. No parking permitted on side of any roads. Vehicles may be parked at main parking lot, smaller staff lot, and overflow parking in grass by the dam (as you are coming into camp, after crossing the dam, use the grassy area on your left as overflow parking).  Vehicles must remain parked until Sunday after closing ceremonies. No one is allowed to drive between events.

COVID safety when at camp. Bring a few cloth masks and personal hand sanitizer. NC Phase 3 requires Masks in all buildings and if 6ft physical distancing is not possible. “Children 11 years or older must wear face coverings at day or overnight camps when they are or may be within 6 feet of another person The Troop will follow our normal sanitation standards, hot water, hand soap, paper towels, three tub cleaning system and bleach spray at chuckboxes and campsite.  

CAMP CHAIR: bring a chair for the campfire.

PERSONAL CAMPING GEAR: Scouts should have the “10 Essentials” always with them during camporee. (The Scout Basic Essentials in scout book pg 268). In addition, scouts need a backpack with clothes and undergarments for layering, rain gear (frog togs, poncho), sleeping gear, eating kit, and cleanup kit.

TROOP GEAR provides tents, chuck boxes, cooking kit, cleanup kit and dining canopy and other trailered gear. You may bring your own tent if you wish, all scouts will sleep alone in their personal tent or troop tent.

MONEY: If you have not yet paid your $15 for patrol food, please give to Mr. Fisher at the camp. Additional money for snacks at camp, etc. at parent’s discretion.

SUNDAY PICKUP – Ceremonies are over at noon on Sunday, parents please be on time for pickup
