SCOUTING FOR FOOD HELP NEEDED

An email was sent recently requesting scout and parent help with Scouting for Food collection this upcoming Saturday. To date, we have had no responses for volunteers, and urgently need parent help in assisting with this project. Scouts that participate will earn community service hours. Our leaders have been helping with the pack on weekends as well, so again, parents are urged to help. Please see below…

Each year all scout troops and packs participate in Scouting for Food, which benefits local food banks.

Yesterday, the pack placed flyers in the Edinburgh, Woodside Falls, Strathmore, and Danby neighborhoods, all located by the church.

Scouts AND parents are greatly needed to drive through these neighborhoods on Saturday February 4th (time TBD but most likely around 10 a.m.) and pick up donated food. The bags will be left on the curbs and doorsteps of homes and should be easily identifiable.

One volunteer will then take all collected food to Harris Teeter in the Arboretum where there will be a large tractor-trailer in the parking lot in which to drop the donations.

Neighborhood driving will take no more than 1/2 hour of your time, and we need volunteers in a bad way! Scouts will also earn community service hours for participation.

If you can help, please email Cindy at friendsof502finance@gmail.com so that we can coordinate.

We thank all parents for helping on this one!
