CLIMBING & CAVING TRIP DETAILS
Please note the following for this weekend’s upcoming trip:
Please be at church Friday, Nov 25th by 1:30 p.m., with prompt departure at 2:00 p.m. (eat lunch before), Camping will be at Silver Creek Campground in Mill Spring, NC
Return Sunday, Nov 27th around noon
Along with normal camping gear, please bring:
Work gloves
A shovel or rake for use with gravel
Safety Glasses
Daypack (for packing lunch and climbing gear to and from the wall)
Refillable Water bottle
10 Scout Essentials
Meals:
Most meals will be family style. This means all scouts will bring one meal item to share with their fellow scouts. Meals are as follows:
Friday night dinner – hot meal (family style)
Saturday breakfast – a quick option for breakfast (cereal, fruit, etc) (family style)
Saturday lunch – individual meal – plan a lightweight/easy lunch (can potentially be a hot lunch as well)
Saturday dinner – hot meal, family style
Sunday breakfast – hot meal, family style
Scouts may bring a small cooler to transport their food to the campsite, however their Saturday lunch must fit in their daypack
Saturday morning scouts will help the Carolina Climbers Coalition with a service project at the climbing area, then begin climbing. After climbing, scouts will assist in helping to pack up the climbing gear with the instructors, and then the troop will head over to the Curtis Creek Campground. Sunday morning the troop will pack up early and head to Linville Caverns for a short hike or sightseeing.
Temps can get cool at this time, please dress in layers and pack accordingly. There is a small chance of light rain as well projected at this time.
