Effective Jan. 1, 2014, the Cooking merit badge will be required to obtain the Eagle Scout rank. Regardless of when a Scout earned the Life rank or began working toward Eagle, unless he fulfills all the rank requirements—with the exception of his board of review— before Jan. 1, 2014, he must earn the Cooking merit badge to become an Eagle Scout.
Since the new Cooking MB pamphlet and requirements are coming out so close to the end of the year, BSA will allow scouts to have the option of continuing or beginning with the old requirements or beginning with the new requirements. Then on Jan 1, 2015, any Scout beginning work on Cooking MB must use the new requirements and the new pamphlet.
Scouts that are aging out this spring will have first priority. Later in the year another class will be available. We will be using the old requirements. Bring your mess kits, paper and pencils. Please contact Mrs. Miller at karen.miller4296@gmail.com to sign up.
Please mark your calendars for the weekend of January 25th to assist Nathan Fisher with his eagle project work days. Saturday the 25th is a definite work day. For those who cannot make the 25th a small work crew will be needed for Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th. Please contact Nathan if you are interested or have questions at info@BigRockEagle.e4ward.com or (H) 704-540-1792 , (C) 980-475-7551 .
It is important that you RSVP as Nathan will be providing lunch on Saturday.
