Summer Camp Info

A number of scouts have expressed interest in summer camp. For our troop to be able to select a camp and attend, we are required to provide two deep leadership, which essentially means two registered and certified leaders from the troop. Currently, we have one leader who can do either the 1st or 2nd week in June, and another who can do the 3rd or 4th week in June.

We need one additional leader to assist, and unfortunately none of our other leaders can attend in June. What does this mean? Basically, it means that we need a parent (or 2 parents, half a week each) to volunteer to attend camp with the scouts, or we cannot make summer camp happen this year.

What does this entail? The parent, or two different parents, would have to register as a leader with the council, allow a breakground check to be performed by the council, complete an online youth protection course, and complete a health form, including a doctor or minute clinic type visit. A uniform shirt may also be required. The troop is willing to cover the registration fee to the council.

We know this is asking a lot, so we appreciate anyone willing to step up and help. If you are willing to help, or have questions, please contact Daniel Fisher at dfisherbroker@bellsouth.net, or come see us at any Monday night meeting.
